(2016 - 2022) Geospatial Analyst

Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF),
Galápagos Islands, Ecuador.

Job Description: Map invasive, native and endemic plant species in the Galápagos Islands to guide conservation actions carried out by the Galápagos National Park Directorate (GNPD).
Methodology: Mapping was attained with machine learning algorithms applied to very high resolution multispectral satellite imagery. Ground data was collected using photogrammetrically processed drone imagery.

Activities:

• Contribute to the writing of research proposals and results to local authorities and donors.
• Present research results to scientific community in conferences and symposia.
• Participate in community outreach strategies with written and audiovisual material, talks, workshops and other educational activities.
• Select, train and supervise project volunteers and interns on project specific tasks.
• Lead expeditions and pilot drone flights in the protected area of the Galápagos Islands.

(2014 - 2015) Research Assistant

Forstliche Versuchs- und Forschungsanstalt Baden Württemberg (Forest Research Institute),
Freiburg, Germany.

Conception and development of models for various wood harvesting scenarios and database management, in a project to assess soil nutrient extraction due to wood harvesting.

(2014 - 2015) Internship as database manager for climate data

Galápagos Islands Integrated Water Studies (GIIWS)

Remote internship with the École normale supérieure, Paris, France.
Database management using the CUAHSI Hydrologic Information System (HIS) framework and development of a web portal with the project's information and data visualization.
