Job Description: Map invasive, native and endemic plant species in the Galápagos Islands to guide conservation actions carried out by the Galápagos National Park Directorate (GNPD). Methodology: Mapping was attained with machine learning algorithms applied to very high resolution multispectral satellite imagery. Ground data was collected using photogrammetrically processed drone imagery.
Activities:- Contribute to the writing of research proposals and results to local authorities and donors.
- Present research results to scientific community in conferences and symposia.
- Participate in community outreach strategies with written and audiovisual material, talks, workshops and other educational activities.
- Select, train and supervise project volunteers and interns on project specific tasks.
- Lead expeditions and pilot drone flights in the protected area of the Galápagos Islands.
